Grout Colourant or Paint
What is the difference between a grout stain or dye and a grout colourant or paint?
These three products are all very similar. However, a grout stain or dye is employed to darken the existing grout, while a grout colourant or paint can make it lighter or darker. If you have a light grout that you can keep clean, apply a grout stain to darken it up slightly. It will only change the colour of the grout.
Grout stains and dye are slightly more challenging than grout paint or a grout colourant. Among the significant advantages is that the colour can soak in a little further.
Application Of Grout Colourant
- Use a cleaner to clean the area before applying a grout colourant. You may also like to take brunch and clean out the grout. And remember to remove any loose material from the grout. Upon having cleaned it, make sure it’s scorched. It might be better to wait a few hours before applying the grout colourant or paint.
- Pour the paint right into a shallow container. Using a small brush, paint the grout from the middle outward. Make sure you keep the painting as clean and as neat as possible. If you get any grout paint or colourant on the side, clean it up quickly using a damp rag.
- Following the first application, allow the colourant to dry for 4 to 5 hours. Then, apply the second coat using the same techniques as the first. After that, let it dry for 24 hours before walking on it again.
The starting point in choosing a grout colourant or paint is finding the desired colour. It can be either darker or lighter. Commonly, people lighten grout to restore it to its original colour. Sometimes, they may also darken it to make grout stains less visible and simplify maintenance. The main benefit of painting is that it can revive your grout without all the hard work of re-grouting or replacing all the existing tiles. Painting your grout is only about one-tenth of the job compared to re-grouting. This is the recommended action, provided your tile and grout are in good condition.
On the other hand, you can count on Steam ‘n’ Dry tiles and grout cleaning. We follow the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Standard and the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification.
