How To Uplift Carpet (DIY Method)

old carpetAre you thinking about removing your old carpet? In contrast to what you may have heard, drawing a rug is simple. However, it could be something that you can do by yourself. If you want to install a new one or build a wooden floor, you can save a lot of money by removing the old, worn-out rug yourself. Below are tips and guidelines for removing the old carpets in minutes. Therefore, if you need help, call the Experts at Steam ‘n’ Dry Auckland Service at 0800 783-266. Before Doing The Task, Ensure that the Following Tools are Set Up.

  • Hammer
  • Instructions
  • Masking tape
  • Pry or crowbar
  • Utility knife

Here Are Instructions On How To Remove Old Carpet

  1. Hold the old carpet on one end of the room and jerk it from the staple strip.
  2. Slice approximately three inches into it using the utility knife from one end. Next, slice the strip from one end to the other.
  3. Turn the sliced bit, jerking it from the staple bit where needed.
  4. Work with the masking tape to hold the rolled carpet.
  5. Please continue slicing and turning it over until it is completely removed.
  6. Slice and reel bits of the rug padding the same way you did initially with the carpet until you are sure the rug padding has been eliminated.
  7. Use the pry or crowbar tool and a hammer to remove the nail bit. After that, slide the pry tool beneath the nail bit close to the tack. Hit the pry tool into position with the hammer. And take away the nail using the pry tool.

The Things You Need To Know About Lifting The Carpet

  • Indeed, it would be best to keep changing the blade on your utility knife to make your work easy, as it will become blunt while cutting the rug.
  • Rather than using a traditional knife to cut the carpet, go to your local Home Depot store and buy a carpet-cutting knife. Perhaps they are better compared to conventional blades.
  • Removing the nail strips is also essential if you want to build hard flooring instead of carpeting. On the other hand, if you wish to replace a worn-out rug, you should eliminate the previous nail strip.
